Worldwide Friends Iceland runs a center of environment and sustainability near the crossroads to the West, South, and North of Iceland. Called BRÚ, this is located in Hrutafjordur and you can find a lot of pure and unspoiled nature, waterfalls, rivers, canyons, and craters around the house. Its purpose is to protect the natural surroundings as well as to raise awareness and improve environmental education and consciousness of sustainability among the participants, locals, and visitors who come to the area. We make these possible through a series of workshops on topics like Green Energy, Sustainable Householding, Waste Treatment, Nutrition, The Effects of Consumption, and more. Take part in this promising project and spring into action against climate change!
This camp has a variety of activities. However, our main activity is Beach Cleanup, as our goal is to clean the entire Icelandic coastline. We cooperate with the local community as well help with the reforestation of nearby areas. Please note that this is a learning/exchange project, wherein everyone is expected to contribute their own knowledge and experience.
