Juan Munoz scored a team-high 15 points off the bench to lead the University of Hawaii men’s basketball team to a 78-53 win over Hawaii Pacific on Sunday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Munoz was 6 for 7 from the field, including 3 for 4 from 3-point range. Noel Coleman scored 14 points and Berna Da Silva added 13.
The Rainbow Warriors (7-1) got 12 players in the game and 10 of them scored. Dominic Winbush led HPU with 18 points.
Hawaii hosts Nevada on Dec. 17 and then the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic Dec. 21-22 and 24.
The Rainbow Warriors shot .525 from the field (32 for 61), including .567 (17 for 30) in the first half when they built a 40-28 lead.
UH held HPU to .404 shooting (21 for 52) for the game.
Hawaii outrebounded HPU 38-26.
Hawaii Pacific is 5-2 on the season and will host the Hoops In Hawaii Tournament Dec. 17-19 when the Sharks play Cal State San Bernardino, Lincoln and Alaska Anchorage.
